Good news and bad news.

Good News: 2 of the 5 colleges accepted me today! One for Graphic Design and the other for Photography! I actually got sooo happy when I went to check if I had any offers since today was the first day they were officially starting to give them out. So I officially have a future in post-secondary! I still have to do portfolio assessments for 2 other colleges, and wait for their acceptance/decline after that, but I'm in no rush.
Bad News: One of the colleges I did apply to said I wasn't good enough (it was implied) and they said I should try again next year... Oh well - it's not like it was my first choice college anyways.

And I was also thinking: I kinda want to start making youtube videos/vlogs, but I honestly have no idea if I should of not. Like, I have a good camera for it and everything, I just don't know if it would be worth the time. I think it is... But I don't know.. The hardships of this decision.. Plus, I wouldn't know what to talk about - especially in the first one as a little introduction on me and stuff... Uggghhh, I have no idea what to do. Like, it seems so fun to make videos and edit them and all that.. I guess I'll have to wait and see for a bit, just in case.

Anyways, that's all for me.. Goodbye!

So, I'm actually really excited for the new year - I can't believe 2012 is already coming to an end. It feels like just yesterday we were starting 2012 let alone finishing it. I'm going out for New Years this time, to a Portuguese Community Center. I hope it's fun. I'm bringing my camera with me so that will be exciting!

I actually have some major Resolutions that I'm going to try my best to keep up with. First, I made an oath to myself that I'm going to stop biting my nails! It's such a horrible habit but I actually have to set my mind to it (stopping) and hopefully I can manage it. Second, I need to put 200% into my school work since I'm graduating this school year and I need my marks to be good for College applications. Lastly, I need to go on a diet & I need to cut down in what I eat (that is unhealthy) and eat healthier. Need to get in shape, too, more exercise!

I also have some good news regarding my T4i! First off, I'm getting used to it, now, and the menu stuff, I just need to start making my way to 'manual' mode - but that will take some time. I do have a Henry's School of Imaging card worth $80 but my local classes are ALL full, so I have to wait, or go somewhere else (nearby city and stuff). I am getting my Speedlite tomorrow (Canon Speedlite 430EX II to be exact). My cousin called my mom and told her that a store was selling them ($108 off original price) so I have to pitch in my $100 birthday money - and my mom will pay the rest, so that's good. I don't have to worry about that. So next stop is a new lens, either a Macro or Telephoto (I'm leaning towards Macro, but we'll see). I need the money first. I've also decided to start shooting in RAW because it's apparently much better than the other ways that the camera has to offer. I have noticed a bit of a difference already, but that might also be my eyes playing tricks on me.

So yea, that's all I have for today. I'm off to watch Glee again, and start reading my new book. Byebye, and have a Happy New Year!

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas (and a Happy New Year). Hopefully you all had time to spend with family and had all the food you can eat. Haha. I certainly did!

Another thing, real quick - my mom (with the help of my dad, aunt and uncle) got me my Canon EOS Rebel T4i with the 18-35 STM lens for Christmas! So expect some pictures to be up in a week or so (gotta get used to it first - and I'm actually going to read the manual).

Other than that, I hope you guys continue to have a Merry Christmas! Enjoy it while it lasts because it isn't coming back for another year :) and stick to your 2013 New Year Resolutions - that's always important, aha!

So I planned on getting a Canon Rebel t4i (or Canon EOS 650D for some people) soon. I have been saving up, but I've also been mentioning it to my mom and dad to see if they could get me one for my birthday (December 16) or Christmas.

I know what I want, and they know what I want, but this is the problem. I'm not going to get it for my birthday OR Christmas. My mom said she would buy it for me for the summer - before college starts, even though I'm not going to college for photography anymore.

This is the worst news possible. Yea, I'm happy that my mom is going to buy me it, and I get to be there to make sure it's what I want, but I don't want to have to wait another half-a-year... I've been wanting the T4i since it came out, and I had previously wanted the T3i for a couple of months before the T4i came out. The only other bright side to this is that by the time I go to buy it, I'll have a proper job with enough money to buy a good lens, a bag, extra battery, memory card, tripod, etc. But still...

But I also came up with another conclusion. Maybe my mom is saying that so I stop asking her for one, and if she actually gets me one for my birthday/Christmas, I'll be extra surprised since I would have been expecting it for the summer, only. But if I don't get it, I'll probably be so depressed on my birthday/Christmas... Nothing I can do.

Hopefully we win the lottery...

So for a while now, I've been wanting to get the new Canon Rebel (the T4i). It is said to be a pretty good amateur camera, and it looks simple enough to use. However, I previously used my cousins Canon EOS 60D (a week ago) and I really liked using it and I like the feel of the camera overall (holding it and using it).

But I'm in a bit o a situation. I don't know which I want to get as my first DSLR. I learn really quickly, so I can handle the 60D fine if I have to learn from the ground up. But I don't know which to choose based on a performance basis. I'm looking more for photo quality / performance than video (but I wouldn't mind good video quality as a bonus).

So this is where whoever is reading this comes into play. Based on your personal experiences with these cameras, or based on your knowledge of the camera quality, I would like to know which you think is worth the money.

So basically, I don't mind that the 60D is more 'advanced' than the T4i (or so I've heard), I can learn really quickly, but I just want to know which is better in general. So ALL input would be nice. I do plan on doing something in the future regarding photography, either as a career or a hobby, but I would like a camera that can help me get there (starting off slower than if I were to jump straight into a very advanced camera). So that's also something to look at regarding which camera I should choose.

So last words here: thanks to anyone that helps out. All your comment / thoughts will be considered when it comes to choosing a new camera. And I will for sure update what camera I got (of I get one anytime soon).

Thanks!
- Ana
